One more week down of marathon training! As of 8/18/12, I’ve completed my fourth week…so many more to go!
Last weekend I was set to run 5 miles, but ran with a friend who needed to go farther so I ended up running 10! Oddly, it felt so good.
It’s nice to finally like this running thing. 🙂
We kept an awesome pace and finished before the sun got high.
Afterwards my heel was a little sore; so I brought sexy back and wore these bad boys to bed that night; even though they’re compression sleeves for your calves, they help my heel, thanks CEP
Monday night I did a 4 mile run that I thought was going to kill me. It was hot & humid — like a normal Florida, summer day; but that wasn’t the issue…the issue was me! I did not make the best food choices that day, nor did I drink a lot of water, and I suffered. Note to self: DRINK MORE WATER.
Tuesday night: 3 miles. In the rain. 🙂
I registered for another marathon! Because I think I’m crazy. 😉 The Disney marathon medal was put on for display this week…so I bit the bullet and signed up. Not crazy about how expensive it was but know that I’ll love that weekend and all it entails. Disney does an awesome job organizing races.
night I coaxed the beautiful WJG to join me for spin. WJG recently
started a new job that she loves…but it has made her a very busy girl.
But I was able to pull her away from her desk to join me at Soho Spin
I love this place. Luckily I was introduced a couple years ago and have
enjoyed every class. Your first one is free, so go try them out! 🙂
AND! The instructor gave me the BEST compliment. WJG and I were talking
with her after class and…she told me I had NICE LEGS! You may wonder why
this is such a big deal to me…but I’ve never cared for my legs. Marching band during high school gave me thunder thighs — before it was cool to be muscular. So I was always sensitive to showing them, regardless of the compliments or
encouragement I received. However, recently I have been able to tone
them some and have been brave. I was wearing the tight, short, spandex shorts that night… So the simple act of receiving a compliment that I had nice legs meant a
lot; especially from the instructor who works out her legs every – single – day!
I love getting mail. It’s something that I have enjoyed as a kid — and honestly don’t think it will ever change. 🙂 But my Shakeology
cups came! You’ve heard me talk about Shakeology before…but here I go again. It’s amazing. Tastes great, very filling, packed with nutrients and vitamins, and helps you lose weight and feel awesome. But I needed another blender cup so I ordered some. 🙂 So…here’s a plug and maybe an incentive…sign up as a coach from my page or order some Shakeology and you get a free blender cup! 🙂
Thanks to SnF
for introducing me to FitFluential
via Twitter. FitFluential is an awesome company that using social media to network fitness and fitness lovers all across the nation. Utilizing Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram and blogs are just a few ways that I’ve already plugged into the network created by FitFluential. And…FitFluential also has Ambassadors, someone who exuberates their love for fitness in everything they do. And I applied! Fingers crossed in a few weeks I’ll be able to brag that they picked me as one! 🙂
And now…today. 7 miles done! The amazing Fred organizes and puts on a running group for local runners of Tampa each Saturday morning: Blue Sharks! He starts it up in August…just when every runner has started their half or full marathon training. Each Saturday morning, starting at 5:30AM, Fred rounds us up at a park on Davis Island to start us off. From there, he drives to 3 different locations and sets up water/gatorade stations for us along the route — all this out of the goodness of his heart and through donations. 🙂
But it started today! Thanks Fred!! There was a total of 87 runners this morning…and that number will continue to rise as training season continues.
Onto week #5 of training. This upcoming weekend’s long run is 10…I can handle that.
Now go sweat some! 😉
