To the point.

Things are good.
And sometimes…you need scary & close encounters to remind you of that.

If you knew me in high school, you knew that I had horrible luck with cars. Currently, my Jetta is my sixth car; being involved with two hit & runs accidents doesn’t help that number… But Zeus has treated me very well for the last 4 years, and getting onto the Veterans today, I was scared that I might have to think of a new car name! Some idiot decided to SLAM on their brakes going through the small toll booth to get onto the highway. I was going slow. I wasn’t looking at my phone. The roads were dry. But I almost hit the truck in front of me. February of 2003 flashed before me…that was when I had a horrific accident on 275 when I actually did go partially under a truck. Had I not been driving a Jetta…I might not have legs. Hence…why I’m driving my third Jetta. But tonight, I almost rear-ended a truck. Thankfully the ABS kicked in, very loudly; everything flew to the floorboard and I was waiting for the airbags & sand-like stuff that comes with them. But it didn’t happen. And life really does flash before your eyes.

But it made me realize, shit could be worse. And I’m pretty damn lucky. So don’t let the little things bug you…and love the life you’ve got.

Now onto my exciting week of marathon training!

But first, props to my brother. My parents celebrated their 39th (holy cow!! and thanks for being such an awesome example) wedding anniversary this past weekend so they did a weekend getaway. I played fun sister this past weekend…as always. He loves to hang out with me…especially when I’ve got my music on, because it’s not censored and my mom typically doesn’t let him listen! So we’re hanging out and I start rattling off about running, races, cycling and so on. And that made me give him a quick quiz. To my surprise, he knew that I was training for a marathon (and not just running a lot) AND he knew that a marathon was 26.2 miles. It’s nice to know he listens while I’m blabbing away.

And now to the point I was trying to make…

Took advantage of the long weekend during Labor Day and relaxed on Saturday…I slept in on Long Run Day! Sunday I enjoyed some pool time with friends then did a solo brick workout. I enjoyed spin @ Soho Spin with only 5 other individuals…true sign of a holiday weekend. After that I headed to Davis Island to run the Blue Sharks loop for my 7 miles. Longest. 7. Miles. Ever. My pace was horrible…but oh well, I got it done and found some tadpoles to gander at along the route.

Spin class: Yay! Burned almost 500 calories. Run: Boo! I was sloooow…

Monday I took it easy and did Cardio Recovery. I managed to get an awesome self portrait in the sunroom…the sun coming through the window created quite the illumination (& no filter!)

Tuesday night I enjoyed a 5k run with friends…followed by Taco Tuesday @ Tijuana Flats. Three of my favorite things in one night!

Wednesday I did a two-a-day; I love when I can actually get my ass out of bed early enough to get one of these accomplished! I started the morning with Shaun T and Fast & Furious…and a measly one minute plank.

That night was followed up with Pure Cardio…two-a-day complete!

Thursday and Friday…I took off. Unintentional…but my body enjoyed the rest; because I killed it on my Saturday morning run! Training called for 12 miles…and that’s what was done! I met Ms. Trooper, Ms. Jersey and LP early @ 4:50AM to get in a quick 3 miles before the Blue Sharks started. We then finished up with the 9 miles supported loop. My pace astounded me. Had it been a race…it would potentially been a half marathon PR!

And that puts week number 7 in the books!

Sunday was a rest day; and I finally created my shadow box for my Half Fanatic races! I’m pretty proud of it and excited to push myself and qualify for Marathon Maniacs!

I’m also doing a CONTEST to win something for FREE on my Facebook page! I just want to know what motivates you! Tell me on my page! And like it too!

Lastly, a HUGE shout out to the BEST DAMN RACE!! I think they’d be okay with me stating that the registration sucked…only due to the site freezing because so many runners (myself included) were so excited about a deal! But the race director handled EVERYTHING with professionalism and class. He was able to get everything handled in a very timely manner and reached out to anyone that had issues. There are a few locals races that could utilize some of his strategies and class 😉 And I was able to get registered for a half marathon for ONLY $1!!! So if you’re looking for a race in February…this should be it!
Bam! 🙂
And as always…go sweat some!
