It is hard to put into words my experience with the Food Wine Conference 2016…
|| expectations were exceeded || so many connections were made || tried and tasted the best of wine || the food — just impeccable || learned from the best || friendships were made ||
You get the idea.
Had I not been an ambassador for the Food Wine Conference — I may have been a little skeptical to sign up — what was in it for me? what would I learn? how would this help my blog and brand? Well…that’s what I’m here to tell ya! Here is a hint, I’m signing up for next year!
the networking — the people. Fellow bloggers. Leaders. Professionals. I almost ran out of business cards to pass around! The connections you make are just endless — you are able to connect to so many like-minded individuals with the same goal! Plus, it is a great opportunity to put names to faces & blogs since so many of us are always behind a screen or camera. The master minds behind Food Wine Conference also brought the best of the best as guest speakers and leaders for our break-out sessions. *this was my favorite part of the conference and the biggest reason for already being on board for next year!
the food. Do I really need to explain this one? Not only was all the food immaculate, but I was able to try new foods, new brands, and new combinations. Crazy enough, I am not good in the kitchen — sadly I did not get those amazing chef genes from my dad. But upon leaving the conference, I gained a new appreciation for food in general, food pairings and simple tricks to give me some success in the kitchen. *really, the food was delicious; above is the most epic meal of the weekend, thanks to Certified Angus Beef and CK Mondavi. || Cabot, Stonebridge Orchards, & Florida Strawberry Growers Assoc. were other favorites of mine.
the networking — the companies. Another one of highlights of the Food Wine Conference! Since I am not the best in the kitchen — grocery shopping is kept simple and majority of the brands at #FWCon were all brand new to me. Considering that I have recently rebranded my blog as a Lifestyle Blog, adding food into the mix of posts has been a goal of mine and with my new knowledge of the amazing companies from the Food Wine Conference — I am on the right path to adding food into the mix of Live.Sweat.Sleep.Repeat!
the wine. And again — does this one need an explanation?! I love me some wine and the #FWCon was a great extension of knowledge on how wine is made, the different types of wine and how to best pair it with multiple types of food. CK Mondavi treated us all like royalty with tastings & treats to accompany.
*sidebar. It was an absolute treat to be an ambassador for the Food Wine Conference 2016; and the cherry on top was accompanying Datz & Roux for their segment on “Working in the Hospitality Industry.” I was able to tweet live and interact with Tony from Datz, Robin King of Out of the Weeds & Three Birds Tavern, Jeff Hock with Columbia Restaurant, Kat Lewis – blogger for Epicurean & Scrub Island Resort and Julius Mayo Jr – the mastermind behind Droolius.
if you love meeting like-minded people as a lifestyle/food/travel blogger –> GO.
if you love food, writing about food, trying different foods, learning about food –> GO.
if you love wine, tasting wine, pairing wine, learning about wine –> GO.
*It was an epic experience, my blogging horizons have grown and I cannot wait until Food Wine Conference 2017!
