Keys to Success… and Gloria Estefan

I promise, there’s a connection.

thanks to the relationship with the Tampa Bay Bloggers and the Straz Center, I did receive complimentary tickets to see On Your Feet! the Musical in exchange for a blog post & social media love. All opinions are my own.

Catch On Your Feet! now, until Sunday, October 29th at the Straz Center;  the endearing story of Emilio & Gloria Estefan, you do NOT want to miss it!

Words cannot describe how much I enjoyed On Your Feet! this evening! I will be the first to admit that I am spoiled and am able to see shows at Straz Center often… but this is the first show that I am 99% sure to see again before it leaves Tampa — it was just that good! My Dad’s side is Irish, my Mom’s side is Italian, but I would not be surprised it I had a little Latin or Spanish in my background with how I was moving at the end of the show! In fact, the entire crowd was moving & grooving along with Gloria and the Miami Sound Machine.

Amidst the stellar dancing, flashy outfits and memorable songs — her road to success was not for the light hearted. It got me thinking of success; the meaning of success is different for everyone and the road(s) we each take vary as much as a fingerprint. The show On Your Feet! clearly depicts that Gloria was, and is extremely hard working, persistent and abundantly talented — all things necessary to crush goals and have success. But, some of our goals take hard work, so here are a few things to implement:

If you’re setting goals, are they SMARTSpecific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic & Timely. Bringing back that college knowledge for ya — but using SMART to create your goals & ambitions will make them more attainable for you to achieve.

And do they align with your passion? Not that they have to… but you will be more excited and likely to work towards them if they are in line. *Gloria was going for her bachelors in Psychology (and did obtain it), but that was not her true passion, and we know where this tune goes…

Be willing to fail and don’t be too hard on yourself if not every plan works. *Even though Gloria is the most popular crossover artist in Latin music, she received a lot of “no’s” first.

And for anyone who has drive, motivation and a thirst for success & reaching your goals — we all know a little learning, and a lot of sacrifice comes along with that path. But, as we know, and often times need to be reminded of, our efforts are all worth it in the end.
