All too often, I get flack for being too busy, too tired or having my head somewhere else.
But it’s true. I’m always hustlin’. Always. The only days I take off are for a trip to Disney, and even then I still have to pull my phone out for a post or a quick social media check.
While most of the time, I still love those peeps that say I’m always busy, or don’t have much free time – but sometimes it’s those that say these things that have. no. idea. what. entrepreneurship. is. all. about. Those of us in it – we know. Those not… not so much.
But chatting with a friend earlier made me realize that yes, I’m one of that small percent that is always working. And while some would deem this as unhealthy, or question why I want to work for myself at all – I f-ing love it.
Of course, there are negatives to any job; but as an entrepreneur, (in my opinion) – you’re fine in my book if you are 100% hustle & keep these few things in check:
it’s your passion. it makes you happy. this one is gimme. If it fuels your fire & brings a smile to your face, keep at it.
it is a means to an end. because in the end, time = money. While it may be your passion, if you eventually want to make it your full time gig, or as a ‘help; to monthly bills – take a step back, analyze, and double check that your time is being best spent if making $ is one of your goals as an entrepreneur.
you still make time for what’s important. and this is where I kinda fall silent… Very often, I am asked how I have time to do it all, well, it’s because I only have myself to report to. No boyfriend. No kids. No pets. I know I have it easy based on those three facts, which is why I always hesitate to answer that question when asked – everyone’s situation is different. Luckily, I live with an adorable cat that I get to treat like my own, and I’d love to have a handsome gent to spend time with… but I’m trusting the universe & it’s timing; not worth getting meh over when – like the topic of this post – I’m always hustlin’.
you still make time for you. now this is one I can get behind! I love to use the saying ‘you can’t pour from an empty cup’ – and oh tis true for us entrepreneurs, especially those of us in social media! Keep your mental & physical health in check by scheduling in time for you in your planner. Even 10 minutes of meditation can make a big difference.
only healthy sacrifices are made. some sacrifices are ok! As long is it is not against your physical or mental health, your family, or your lover. Personally, I think it is ok to put in some extra hours, travel a little more, or simply hustle a little more if you’re keeping everything (and everyone) in check & happy!
your support system still has your back. piggy-backing on healthy sacrifices, but if you can get their support, grab it! In reality, this is not always the case. But, the best you can do is being open & honest with them on your goals, and how it may affect them.
to my other fellow entrepreneurs – anything to add?!
