Straz Center: Les Misérables

· Catch "Les Misérables", now until 1.20.19 ·

*disclaimer: thanks to my relationship with The Straz Center and the Tampa Bay Bloggers, I did receive the opportunity to see Les Misérables in exchange for blog & social media love. all opinion are my own.

It is no secret that I am always up for an show at The Straz Center. Excuse me for sounding like a broken record, but love that I was able to visit The Straz Center as a child, and still can in my 30s. All the #tampalove.

There was a definite excitement behind Les Misérables coming to the Straz Center and it surpassed the hype. It was more than just a show, it was emotion, raw feelings, history, amazing costume designs, and an even more grand stage set. You do not want to miss it! There are showtimes now, until Sunday, January 20th. Visit here for details and performance dates & times.

I did come into the show blind – like I love to do… but walked away with a few pieces of advice to consider prior to seeing Les Misérables:

read up: I highly suggest to do a little research on the storyline prior to – I wish I had. Having an understanding of the basic story will allow you to enjoy the show even more. Every line is sung, so you will be paying uber close attention unless you have a general idea of the story line.

eyes open. Be ready for some amazing sets. This was one of the most visually complex & pleasing shows that I have seen at The Straz Center in some time. The costumes. The set. The staging. The visual effects. They use the entire stage for the show – I felt like I was at DIsney!

open your ears. Really, put on your listening ears! This was probably the facorite part of Les Misérables. While every show I’ve attended at the Straz has had some incredible talent – this show takes the cake. Jean Valjean, played by Nick Cartell – his voice was just amazing, I got goosebumps every time he sang.

a random note. The first act is long, longer than most shows – grab that restroom break before the show begins!

Ending on a serious note, Les Misérables it was an amazing production. 2019 is going to be an amazing year for The Straz Center!
