#keepingitreal, being a busy bee can lead to a mind that does not shut up. Don’t get me wrong, I love what I do and cannot complain about putting my passion into words, but a girl has gotta get her beauty rest!

Plus, since I realized I have that little pesky thing called anxiety, a good night’s rest is imperative to feeling my best. Here a few tips, some I use and some I don’t, of how to you can catch some better zzzzzz’s.

before bed routine. This is such a struggle for me, but going to bed around the same time (and waking up at the same time daily), is a big help — simply because your body gets into that routine. But consider pushing away any screen before bed, if you can put it away one hour before bed, even better. Enjoy a hot shower to relax, have some warm tea to settle those brain waves.

Natrol MelatoninFor reals, I am not one for medicine or any type of aiding, but along with resting soundly, I had the tretcherous sleep hangover. Not as bad as the normal hangover, but still unpleasant and it was cutting into my attempts of rising earlier for blogging or workouts. Thankfully, Natrol Melatonin Fast Dissolve and Natrol Advanced Sleep Melatonin help with just that. Plus, it helps promote healthy sleep patterns and is not habit forming and drug free — another biggie for me.

your environment. Your bed. Your pillows. Your sheets. The temperature. Fan on…fan off. White noise? Need black out curtains? We all know one of these things out of whack can mean disrupted sleep, so keep these in mind if you notice a little disruption in your zzzz’s.

workout. Sounds so simple, but a daily workout can really help with sleep. Your body will want that rest at the end of the day if you’re breaking a sweat and putting some work in during the day.

caffeine. Another struggle of mine…caffeine intake during the day. I am crazy and can drink coffee before bed, but I know that is not good. Some friends of mine cannot have caffeine past 5PM — but whatever works for you. If you’re adding espresso with every coffee or drinking from this big cup multiple times a day, caffeine might be problem, and that’s coming from a coffee lover!

So I wanna know, what do you do to ensure to catch that beauty sleep?

Thankfully I don’t have a problem with sleep but I know I do have a problem of letting technology keep me up later than I should be. When that happens I need to check myself and put it all a way and read a book instead. Much better for sleep!

I can’t have caffeine after noon if I want to get to sleep before midnight. (Although for some reason a rare Diet Coke in the afternoon won’t bother me.) I also have to have a cool bedroom. Sometimes my insomnia is bad though and I’m up most of the night. If it’s 1am or later and I’m still awake I’ll get up, make a cup of sleepytime tea and read on the couch ’cause it’s better to stop stressing about not sleeping and just go with it. Usually I’ll be able to go back to bed and actually sleep after about an hour.

I definitely let my blogging habits keep me up to late at night. It’s definitely a goal of mine to keep working on this. My husband has tried Melatonin before and it really helped him

loooove this! I’m the same since I’ve been trying to put away the screen about a half hour or so before bed. Doesn’t help that it is ALSO my alarm right next to my bed. I’ve tried foam rolling, drinking tea, looking at magazine/book, etc. which I see makes a big difference in sleep quality. It’s just making it more consistent each night thats key. 🙂
