Blood Moon Sangria ::: with Veggie Wash

A tasty concoction just in time for Halloween…

thanks to my relationship with Veggie Wash, this post is sponsored in exchange for blog & social media love. an extra thanks is owed to Castello del Poggio for supplying a bottle of their delicious Sweet Red. all opinions are my own.

Ever since visiting Spain while I was in college, Sangria has been one of my favorites (beside tequila!). While I do not always share on the interwebs, I like to be creative and attempt to combine new flavors to create a new sangria. Putting fruit into my cup… letting it soak up the beverage is one of my favorite ways to spice up my sangria. Which got me thinking…

That delicious fruit. Tasty — ready to absorb my beverage for a tasty treat when finished…

Completely covered with ??!?!??

Sadly, we don’t know what our fruit is covered in — dirt? oils? chemicals?

Water doesn’t cut through the wax & grime — insert Veggie Wash!

Veggie Wash uses components of corn, coconut & citrus to cut through the *potential* harmful residue on your fruits and vegetables; ensuring you’re eating them as mother nature intended. It is so easy to use (spray, rub, rinse) and does not add any extra time in the kitchen. Plus, it smells delicious, so you won’t mind using it! Find out more details here and get some of your own on Amazon or Home Depot.

Now, I can throw in my blood orange slices and whatever else may strike my fancy into my glass with no worries!

Back to my concoction… with a Halloween flair since this is my favorite holiday. And so simple to make!! Since we all know I like to use ingredients you *may* already have at home, or can easily grab from the store.

Blood Moon Sangria: makes 4-6 servings

Ingredients:

  • Five Blood Oranges (or navel oranges if not in season)
  • Pomegranate Juice (8-16 oz, the more you use, the sweeter; and while you can juice your own, I purchased POM)
  • a sweet red wine (I used Castello del Poggio Sweet Red)
  • Ginger liquor (optional)
  • Veggie Wash (to clean those tasty blood oranges!)

Directions:

  • Clean all your fruit with Veggie Wash
  • Juice four of your blood oranges
  • Cut up your leftover blood orange & put directly into your pitcher; looks pretty & will taste great later
  • Add desired pomegranate juice
  • Add entire bottle of sweet red wine
  • If you love ginger, add 4 oz of ginger liquor (it adds to the flavor)
  • Stir & serve over ice. Salud!
