Piquant is one of my favorite places in Hyde Park, Tampa. Not just for their delicious drinks and wait-worthy brunch… But for their ambiance, seasonal menu & fresh dishes. The bloggers were given a sneak peek of their new Fall menu items, and luckily I remembered to take a few photos before finishing the plate!
thanks to my relationship with the Tampa Bay Bloggers & Piquant, I was given the opportunity to enjoy a tasting of their new Fall Menu items in exchange for a blog post and social media love. all opinions are my own.
As an appetizer we started with the Poulpe Provencal – Octupus Provencal; perfectly seared Octopus atop a warm cluster of potatoes. At first glance, I was surprised to see this combination. Don’t get me wrong, this Irish girl loves her potatoes — but the seasoning of the Octopus with the Spanish extra virgin Olive Oil on my favorites was the tastiest match.
I was so excited that we got a taste of brunch… my favorite meal of the day. If you ever want to visit Piquant for brunch, allow me to suggest a reservation, indulge in the sweets and sip up some of their coffee. At this tasting, they showcased their new Pork Belly Benedict. And it was fit for a King. The combination of a thick piece of bacon atop a Lemon-Thyme Scone with their Avocado Hollandaise sauce was divine was so complimentary to the other flavors. Throw in a mimosa and you get all the ‘brunch’ feels… regardless of what time of day it is.
Chef Ricardo has been on the nice list this year and has something secret for us in the oven. Drum roll please… Eight Layer Croissant Bread!! Yes, you read that right. The deliciousness and succulent taste of a croissant — for your favorite sandwich! You may be wondering why I am hyping this up so much…well it is worth it! If it’s fresh that day, order it for your go-to lunch sandwich — you will not be disappointed. *We had ours as a Club Sandwich.
Of course the evening would not be complete with a beverage to accompany our plates. Each one was matched — the tastes of each, food & drink, were the perfect pair. My favorite of the evening accompanied our desserts, it was equal parts Pumpkin Spice Baileys and Crown Royal Vanilla — shaken *not stirred* and served over ice.
One of our main course dishes was the Salmon Napoleon. The Salmon was seared to perfection so that it just fell apart, was drizzled with Hollandaise and atop Ratatouille. I would definitely order this plate again.
Moving right along into the sweet stuff. I am not normally a ‘sweets’ person, but the Crossant Donut Beignets won my heart over with one bite. There were four dipping sauces to spice of your Donut, of course caramel ended up on my plate.
The JBF Passion Fruit Ganache Gateau was just grand… topped with Vanilla Bean ice cream, this dessert was the perfect mix of light, fruity, yet rich tastes to fancy your palate at the end of your meal.
You can have a taste of your own at Piquant, located in Hyde Park, Tampa. They’re open early for brunch and totally worth losing your ‘sleep in’ morning. But you’ll have to join them for lunch or dinner to have a bite of the dishes I have shared with you today.
Thank you again to Piquant for your gracious service for our meal — and for your never-ending creativeness that continues to create masterpieces in the form of food. Bon Appétit!
