As a Tampa girl, I cannot believe I am about to say this… but St Pete has been getting my vote lately for places to eat! The city is booming with tasty treats, eclectic breweries, coffee shops & happy hour hot spots.

*thanks to the relationship with Hype Group, I was able to experience Brooklyn South for a tasting in exchange for a blog post & social media love. All opinions are my own.

Brooklyn South is tucked away from the hustle & bustle of the main strip of St Pete, but is located just down from Ferg’s near the Trop on Central Avenue. They’re best known for meats & cheeses but have recently been selling more & more sandwiches; which is not surprising when you have the best of toppings for that sandwich!

Owner Matt Bonano has always been passionate about cheese and saw an opportunity in St Pete for his vision — seeing that St Pete was becoming a destination for foodies and those that really enjoy the taste of what they are eating; thus Brooklyn South was born! They are celebrating two years this Thursday, June 16th — you can join them for a toast & some cheese from 6:30PM-8PM, I may see you there!

Upon walking into their shop, I felt welcomed before a word was spoken; its a cozy area with their bountiful of meats & cheeses on display, plus some tables for you to enjoy the tastiest of sandwiches. I was able to try one of their current specials, Salame Rosa accompanied with taleggio, spinach & roasted peppers. It was delicious, all of the tastes collaborated perfectly and even complimented each other — this sandwich was delicious that afternoon, and the next day as a leftover!

Brooklyn South is not just known for their mouth-watering sandwiches, but for their esquisite options of meats & cheeses that you cannot find at your local grocer. They want you to come in, chat it up, try some cheese, share your upcoming dish to accompany their meat and/or cheese and leave with a warm heart and arms full of tastiness. *I honestly wished I cooked more so that I could have chatted with them in depth on what would accompany what foods best!*

*Above, I enjoyed their Ciabatta Bread that is delivered fresh daily, Spring Brook Reading cheese, cherry tart jelly, Truffle Moliterno cheese & pickled greens.

For a lunch break, grabbing dinner on the way home, or stopping by on a weekend afternoon for a meat & cheese tray for your Saturday night in with friends, (and wine, let’s be real here, lol) Brooklyn South is the place to be. Not only are their crafted sandwiches delicious, but all of their goods are top notch. Plus, not sure what to get? — You get their knowledge as well and Matt can even help you find the best meat or cheese to pair with your dish!
