*thanks to my relationship with the Tampa Bay Bloggers & Big City Events Tampa, I did receive complimentary tickets to attend in exchange for blog & social media love. All opinions are my own.
Sushi Battle, such a fun night with a few of my favorite things… sushi & friends!
The Ritz was an awesome venue, perfect with multiple rooms for all the festivities of the night. I love the Ritz ::: old Tampa feel, mixed with a Victorian & Burlesque feel. Right as you walk in, you receive your sake bomb glasses and your classic red chopsticks. To the left, sake tasting; to the right, sake bomb bar & karaoke; a Godzilla citing on your way to the largest room, with a stage for drumming, important announcements…and filled with sushi! 13 sushi chefs from local restaurants (and even one from Sarasota!) brought their best pieces and got to rolling!
Along with your goodies when you walked in the door, you also received a single, gold chopstick…but not to keep! Your gold chopstick is how you declared your vote for your favorite sushi.
The winners were: third: Tsunami ::: second: Urban Sushi Burrito ::: first: Rain
And the Grand Winner: Pisces
All of the sushi was so incredibly good, a few of my favorites were:
Pisces is located in Clearwater. This roll, the Emperor was not only pretty to look at, but was delicious.
YO! Sushi is coming to International Mall soon — my lemon friends will love this! YO! originated in London, jumped the pond for NYC and are now coming to Florida! They use a conveyor belt to deliver their food — I’m excited to check them out once they open.
Tsunami graced the battle all the way from Sarasota. I [might] have liked their sushi best…one of the rolls they were serving had a piece of mango atop it. Fruit on top of sushi?? Well…that’s the way to my heart.
I also found a friend.
He even got down with some karaoke…
This was the first year for the Sushi Battle and I’m already excited for next year! I do hope they keep it at the Ritz but…maybe sell a few less tickets, it did get pretty packed towards the end. However, as always, Big City Events knows how to throw down a party! You really cannot go wrong with sake bombs, karaoke, unlimited sushi & an evening with my crazy friends!
“Sake…sake…sake… BOMB!”

I definitely would have been KICKED OUT because well um, I cannot control my actions around sushi!!!
Caitlyn
Hahah! I think you would have been ok, the crowd kept some actions at bay 😉
